Singer Sean Kingston, known for his 2007 breakout hit Beautiful Girls, has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison for his involvement in a $1 million fraud case. The artist, whose real name is Kisean Paul Anderson, was found guilty in March alongside his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, on multiple counts, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. Turner received a five-year sentence last month.

According to prosecutors, Kingston leveraged his celebrity status to acquire expensive items such as a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, luxury watches, and a massive 19-foot LED TV, without making payments. He reportedly used fake wire transfer receipts and enticed sellers with promises of social media promotion in exchange for the goods.

During Friday’s sentencing in a South Florida courtroom, U.S. District Judge David Leibowitz denied a request for delayed surrender due to health concerns and ordered Kingston’s immediate remand. Assistant U.S. Attorney Marc Anton labeled Kingston as a “thief and a conman,” saying he had manipulated his fame to deceive victims for years. However, Kingston’s attorney, Zeljka Bozanic, argued that the singer had poor financial management skills and had already begun repaying some of the victims.

The case gained national attention in May 2024 when both Kingston and his mother were arrested during a SWAT raid on his rented mansion in Fort Lauderdale. Born in Florida and raised in Jamaica, Kingston rose to stardom at just 17 and enjoyed early success in the music industry.
