The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reported a surge in interest as its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) portal recorded over 26,000 visits just hours after the exercise commenced on Monday.
As of 12:35 p.m. on August 18, 2025, the number of hits on the official CVR website — www.cvr.inecnigeria.org — had reached 26,255. Sharing the update on its official X handle, the Commission stated, “Hits on the Continuous Voter Registration portal (cvr.inecnigeria.org) climb to 26,255 as at 12:35 pm today, Monday 18th August 2025. Register Now.”
INEC also announced that physical (in-person) registration will begin on August 25, 2025, at all 37 state offices and 774 local government area offices across the country to make the process more accessible to citizens.
The CVR exercise is open to Nigerians who are 18 years and older and have never registered before, as well as those seeking to update their details, transfer their voting locations, or replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). INEC emphasized that double or multiple registrations are prohibited and warned that violators will face legal consequences.
Encouraging Nigerians to take advantage of the exercise, INEC reiterated its dedication to fostering inclusive participation in the democratic process.
