The Katsina State Government has appealed to the Federal Government for urgent intervention to address worsening insecurity in the state.

Acting Governor Faruk Lawal-Jobe made the call on Tuesday in Katsina, following the tragic killing of 13 worshippers at a mosque in Unguwan Muntau, Malumfashi Local Government Area.

He stressed the need for immediate presidential action to end recurring attacks on communities.

“We respectfully request Mr. President to give matching orders to all security agencies to holistically and decisively bring an end to these unprovoked attacks on our peaceful communities. The people of Katsina State deserve to live in safety and pursue their livelihoods without fear,” Lawal-Jobe said.

He lamented that farmers, traders, and families are forced to live in perpetual fear, adding that only a strong presidential directive and resource mobilization can provide the security architecture required to secure the state.

The acting governor, however, commended the efforts of security agencies currently deployed in Katsina and praised the Community Watch Corps and Vigilante Groups for their resilience in defending residents.

The government reassured citizens of its commitment to work closely with federal authorities and security agencies to restore lasting peace and stability across the state.
