Tinubu Urges Nigerians to Try New Income Tax Calculator Ahead of 2026 Reforms

President Bola Tinubu has encouraged Nigerians to make use of a newly introduced Personal Income Tax Calculator designed to estimate how much individuals would pay under the new tax reforms set to take effect in January 2026.

In a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, the President highlighted that the tool enables users to compare their estimated taxes under the reformed system with current rates. This, he said, is aimed at fostering transparency and helping citizens understand how the changes will affect their earnings.

“These reforms are built on fairness and equity,” Tinubu stated. “A fair tax system must never punish poverty or overburden the vulnerable. With the new laws I’ve signed, we’ve removed that burden and paved the way for economic justice and true redistribution.”

He explained that the calculator shows how the reforms protect low-income earners, promote a progressive tax system, and simplify compliance for taxpayers.

“Together, we are renewing hope in our nation,” Tinubu added. “Take a bet on Nigeria. Bet on a future that works for you, your family, and your community.”

The Personal Income Tax Calculator is available to the public at: https://fiscalreforms.ng/index.php/pit-calculator/.
