2026 World Cup Draw: Trump Confirms Date, Venue

United States President Donald Trump has announced that the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place on December 5 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Speaking at the Oval Office on Friday alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Trump described the World Cup as “the biggest, probably the biggest event in sports.”

The 2026 edition will be historic as the first to feature 48 teams, an expansion from the traditional 32. It will also be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

So far, 13 nations have already secured qualification: Canada, Mexico, USA, Australia, IR Iran, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Korea Republic, Japan, Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, and New Zealand.

The tournament is scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
