EPL: Ian Wright tips Madueke to replace injured Saka in Arsenal squad

Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, has urged manager Mikel Arteta to call on new signing Noni Madueke as a replacement for Bukayo Saka, who picked up a hamstring injury during the Gunners’ 5-0 win over Liverpool on Saturday.

Saka, who scored Arsenal’s fifth goal, went down clutching his hamstring in the 53rd minute after captain Martin Odegaard had already been forced off with a shoulder injury. Arteta later confirmed that the England winger may have suffered a “significant” setback.

Reacting on Premier League Productions, Wright warned the injury could sideline Saka for up to six weeks, but insisted Madueke is well-suited to step in.

“This is why the signings are important,” Wright said. “Madueke can play on that side. I’m not saying he’s going to play like Saka, but he can fill that gap until Saka comes back because he’s got a chance now.”

The Gunners maintained their perfect start to the season with goals from Viktor Gyökeres and Jurrien Timber, who both netted braces, before Saka completed the rout. Arsenal now sit top of the Premier League table with two wins from two matches.
