The Action Democratic Party (ADP) Chairmanship candidate for Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Owuru Kenneth Nyeche, has vowed to restore the city’s lost glory and reposition it as Nigeria’s renowned “Garden City.”
Speaking at a campaign rally in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Nyeche said his administration, if elected, would launch a comprehensive Green Initiative to revamp the city’s natural beauty, strengthen sanitation, and promote sustainable development.
“I will restore Port Harcourt to its former glory. This city is proudly called the Garden City—under my leadership, it will return to that name. We will embark on a Green Initiative that promotes cleanliness, tree planting, street beautification, and a safer environment. A clean city will attract investors, boost businesses, and create opportunities for our youth,” he declared.
Nyeche further outlined plans to prioritize waste management, improve drainage systems, and drive urban renewal projects to combat flooding, reduce pollution, and enhance livability.
“We cannot talk about a great city when refuse litters our streets and businesses suffer from poor infrastructure. My administration will partner with residents, community leaders, and entrepreneurs to build a modern, clean, and vibrant Port Harcourt that works for everyone,” he assured.
The ADP candidate also pledged to support local entrepreneurs, generate employment, and strengthen security, noting that economic growth thrives best in a clean, green, and secure environment.
The campaign rally, which moved through major streets and markets in Port Harcourt, drew a massive turnout of enthusiastic supporters who welcomed Nyeche and the ADP campaign team with chants of solidarity, signaling growing acceptance of the party’s message of change and renewal.
The Rivers State Local Government Elections are scheduled to hold on 30th August, 2025.
