The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, has charged newly graduated officers of the Nigeria Customs Service to uphold innovation, discipline, and resilience as they progress in their careers.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of 50 students of Junior Course 22 at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, the CGC—represented by the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Human Resources Development, DCG Greg Itotoh—commended the officers for their hard work and commitment throughout the training.

He urged them to translate the lessons learnt into practical service delivery.
“While we may forget the harsh corrections, restrictions, and pain of training, the lessons must never be forgotten. As you return to your units, face the unknown with courage and determination, because our duties as Customs officers are filled with challenges,” he said.

Itotoh also reminded them that under CGC Adeniyi’s leadership, the Service places a premium on innovation, and encouraged the officers to embrace tasks that would enhance efficiency and strengthen the Service’s global relevance.

The Commandant of the College, Assistant Comptroller-General Oluyomi Adebakin, described the graduation as a significant milestone, stressing that the officers had undergone rigorous training designed to build leadership, discipline, and professional capacity.

“The Junior Course was structured to prepare young officers for the demands of a complex and evolving operational environment. This cohort demonstrated remarkable resilience, dedication, and adaptability,” Adebakin noted.

She explained that the programme combined academic work with health checks, physical drills, teamwork exercises, and conduct assessments to produce well-rounded officers.

Certificates were presented to all 50 graduating officers, while outstanding participants received special awards in leadership, discipline, marksmanship, and academic excellence.

ACG Adebakin further urged the graduates to serve as worthy ambassadors of the College in their respective Commands.
