39 Injured in Limpopo Bus Crash, Including 30 Special School Learners

Tzaneen, Limpopo, Thirty-nine people, among them 30 learners from a special school, were injured on Wednesday in a bus crash along the R71 at Magoebaskloof outside Tzaneen.

According to the Limpopo Department of Transport, the victims have been transported to three different hospitals in the Tzaneen area for medical attention.

Department spokesperson, Matome Taueatsoala, confirmed that the bus belonged to the Department of Education and was carrying 39 passengers at the time of the crash.

“Preliminary reports indicate that 30 of the injured are learners from a special school. Our traffic officers, emergency services personnel and police are on the scene managing the situation. Only one lane is currently open, and officers are conducting point duty,” Taueatsoala said.

He added that further details regarding the cause of the accident and the extent of injuries would be released once families of the victims have been informed.
