The Federal Government has announced the completion of key infrastructure and agricultural projects in Niger State as part of efforts to boost economic growth and ease the movement of goods and services across the country.

Speaking in Minna, the Federal Controller of Works in Niger State, Mr. Eyitayo Aluko, said the Ministry of Works had carried out major road repairs and upgrades during the period under review. These include the Minna–Zungeru–Tegina road, the Tegina–Kontagora road, and the dualisation of the Ilorin, Jebba Mokwa road.

Aluko, who was represented by Mr. Felix Thomas, Assistant Chief Engineer of the ministry in Niger, explained that the projects were designed to strengthen infrastructure and improve connectivity between the North and the southern regions of the country.

Similarly, the State Coordinator of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Suleiman Ladan, highlighted several initiatives implemented to boost food production and provide livelihood support in the state. These include irrigation facilities, market structures, research interventions, and the distribution of relief materials to internally displaced persons and farmers.

Ladan, represented by Mr. Sani Abdullahi Daban, disclosed that the ministry had also shared palliative food items to civil servants and vulnerable groups in Niger State. “We have distributed rice to 6,000 civil servants, including 1,200 federal workers, 4,800 state employees, as well as some private sector workers,” he said.

Beneficiaries also include market women, traders, mechanics, non-governmental organisations, and persons living with disabilities.
