Cape Town, Residents of Nyanga and community activists are set to march to Parliament today, demanding justice for 25-year-old Zenande Tshazibane, who was raped and murdered in her home in June.

Tshazibane had reportedly sought legal protection from her partner just days before her death, yet no arrests have been made in connection with the case.

The Justice for Zenande Initiative says her killing highlights the failures of the justice system to protect women, despite victims following due legal processes.

Convener of the initiative, Zuko Mndayi, said the march is aimed at holding authorities accountable.
“Zenande did everything society tells women to do. She filed for a protection order and appeared in court on June 17. Still, the system failed her. We cannot remain silent when women continue to face such brutality across our country,” Mndayi said.

The demonstration will also serve to raise broader awareness about gender-based violence, with campaigners vowing to keep Tshazibane’s name alive in the fight against femicide.
