Nigeria has secured a position on the INTERPOL Africa Committee following the election of Commissioner of Police Olubode Ojajuni at the 27th African Regional Conference in Cape Town, South Africa.
With the victory, Nigeria now occupies the fifth seat on the Committee for a two-year tenure.
The INTERPOL Africa Committee serves as the advisory body of the regional conference, responsible for setting crime-fighting priorities, shaping strategies against transnational threats, fostering cross-border police cooperation, and promoting best practices in law enforcement across the continent.
Reacting to the development, Force spokesperson, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the election underscores Nigeria’s growing influence in global policing, especially in combating terrorism, organized crime, and other emerging security challenges.
He noted that with Ojajuni’s election, Nigeria will continue to contribute meaningfully to regional and global policing under the INTERPOL framework.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, congratulated the new Committee member and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to professionalism, integrity, and international collaboration in advancing peace and security.
