Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has dismissed allegations of mismanaging over ₦54 billion earmarked for education projects, describing them as baseless and politically driven.

The accusations were made by Eze Chikamnayo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and convener of the Abians Best Interest Association, who petitioned anti-graft agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Chikamnayo, during a press briefing in Abuja, demanded that Otti provide evidence of the 51 “smart schools” allegedly funded with withdrawals from the state treasury between 2023 and 2025.

Responding, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Njoku Ukoha, said the claims were unfounded and aimed at distracting the administration. He stressed that Otti remained committed to transforming Abia’s education sector and would not lose focus due to opposition attacks.

Chikamnayo, however, maintained that his group’s petition was not politically motivated but intended to protect the educational future of Abia children.
