This was disclosed in a report issued on Thursday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Theophilus Duniya, highlighting the achievements of Comptroller Muhammad Babandede during his tenure as Area Controller. Babandede, who recently earned promotion as Assistant Comptroller General following the approval of the NCS Board, had led the command for the past 15 months.

According to the report, the command recorded significant seizures including 544 assorted rifles, 112,500 rounds of ammunition, over 75 million tablets of tramadol, 14 million bottles of codeine-laced syrup, and other expired or fake pharmaceuticals. The total duty-paid value of the seizures was estimated at more than N200 billion.

Commending the performance, the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, praised Babandede and his officers for their diligence in disrupting smuggling networks and protecting national security. He described their dedication as a reflection of professionalism and a firm commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s borders.
