The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has nullified the reported expulsion of Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State, describing the move as illegal and baseless.

In a statement issued in Abeokuta on Saturday, the party’s National Secretary, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday, said the expulsion was announced by a former Kano State Chairman of the party, Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, who had himself been expelled.

Oginni dismissed the pronouncement as “a joke taken too far,” stressing that Dungurawa lacked the authority to act on behalf of the NNPP. He cited a Federal Capital Territory High Court judgment delivered on April 3, 2025, as well as a ruling by an Abia State High Court, both of which affirmed the expulsion of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his loyalists, including Dungurawa.

“It is clear that Senator Kwankwaso, who has become a confused politician, is behind this plot to discredit Hon. Abdulmumin after failing to get the President to yield to his demands before joining the APC,” Oginni alleged.

He added that Kwankwaso’s camp was angered by Jibrin’s independent political decisions, warning that Governor Abba Yusuf’s loyalty to the Kwankwaso group could jeopardise the NNPP’s chances in the 2027 elections.

“One of the smartest ways for Governor Abba Yusuf to secure Kano in 2027 is to reconcile with the party’s founder and national leadership,” Oginni advised.
