Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has announced plans to construct a new airport in Ndikelionwu, Orumba North Local Government Area, as part of efforts to transform the state into a smart mega city.
During a tour of the proposed site, the Managing Director of Chinua Achebe International Cargo Airport, Umueri, Mr. Martins Nwafor, explained that the project would be integrated with an industrial park under an aerotropolis initiative. Nwafor, who also heads the newly inaugurated Airport and Aerotropolis Committee, described the development as a “game changer” that will open fresh economic opportunities for the state.

According to him, establishing multiple airports across Anambra will fast-track industrialisation and overall economic growth.
Leaders of Ndikelionwu community, including Hon. Fabian Nwosu and Hon. Ifesinachi Chukwurah Onwurah, commended the state government for siting the project in their area and pledged full support to ensure its success.
