A banker, Muhammed Suleiman, was killed just three weeks after being promoted to Regional Manager at Union Bank PLC. Suleiman was shot dead on August 4 while traveling from Kaduna to Katsina on official duty. The exact circumstances of his death remain unclear.

Members of the Federal Government College, Kaduna Old Students Association (FEGOKOSA), where Suleiman was an alumnus, have urged the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Tunji Egbetokun, to launch a thorough investigation into the killing.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos on Friday, FEGOKOSA President, Mr. Seyi Gambo, stressed the need to verify claims that bandits were responsible. He was joined by the association’s secretary, Binta Mora, as well as Uchenna Orazulike Nnoli, Global President of the Federal Government College Ugwolawo Old Students Association, and Mr. Williams.

Gambo emphasized that insecurity must not be normalized as part of national life.
“Security must remain the top priority. Only when lives are safe can we discuss development, education, business, and nation-building,” he said. “Security challenges in any part of Nigeria should concern us all. The pain of one community must be felt by every Nigerian.”

He called on the police to keep Suleiman’s family, colleagues, and the public updated on their findings, urging government, security agencies, corporate bodies, and citizens to collectively rise to the challenge of restoring peace and safety in the country.
