The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to apologize for intervening in the political crisis in Rivers State, arguing his actions overstepped constitutional boundaries.

Timothy Osadolor, the Deputy National Youth Leader of the PDP, made the demand on Wednesday in Abuja. He was reacting to the President’s recent declaration of a state of emergency and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Osadolor accused President Tinubu of “exceeding his constitutional powers” and undermining the principle of the separation of powers. He warned that the move sets a “dangerous precedent for Nigeria’s democracy.”

“Yes, I think the President is overreaching,” Osadolor stated. “I read the last paragraph of his speech, where he spoke to governors as if he were a headmaster in a classroom. He should apologise. He should understand fully well that there is a clear division of powers.”
