Promising ARISE TV Broadcaster Somtochukwu Maduagwu Killed in Abuja Armed Invasion

The Nigerian media community is in deep mourning following the tragic death of 29-year-old Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a presenter, reporter, and producer with ARISE News Channel. She was killed during an armed robbery at her Katampe residence in Abuja in the early hours of Monday.

Fondly known as “Sommie” by colleagues, Maduagwu was attacked by armed intruders who stormed her home. Though details of the incident remain unclear, family sources confirmed she suffered fatal injuries during the robbery.

In a statement, ARISE News described her as “a valued member of the ARISE News family,” noting that her eloquence and engaging presence deeply connected with viewers. Her sudden death, the station added, has left friends, colleagues, and loved ones devastated.

Maduagwu, celebrated for her versatility and professionalism, joined ARISE News as a young reporter and steadily rose through the ranks. She covered several major national events and was admired for her passion, eloquence, and ability to connect with audiences both on and off screen.
