Tinubu: Difficult Reforms Now Bearing Fruits

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that the difficult but necessary reforms undertaken by his administration are beginning to yield positive results across Nigeria.

The President made this known on Wednesday in his nationwide broadcast to mark the country’s 65th Independence anniversary.

Addressing Nigerians, Tinubu recalled that his government inherited a “near-collapsed economy” in 2023, marked by decades of fiscal mismanagement. According to him, his administration had to choose between maintaining the status quo or embarking on bold reforms.

“We chose the path of tomorrow over the comfort of today. Less than three years later, the seeds of those difficult but necessary decisions are bearing fruit,” he said.

Tinubu highlighted the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of multiple foreign exchange rates as measures aimed at ending corruption and redirecting resources towards education, healthcare, agriculture, security, power, broadband, and infrastructure.

“These initiatives are designed to improve the quality of life of Nigerians. Federal, State, and Local Governments now have more resources to address development challenges,” he added.

Reflecting on Nigeria’s journey since independence in 1960, the President noted that while not all aspirations of the nation’s founding fathers had been achieved, the country has made remarkable progress in economic growth, social cohesion, and physical development.

Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to building a more inclusive economy and sustaining the reforms to secure Nigeria’s future.
