Abuja, Nigeria, The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced plans to introduce an upgraded system for the processing of driver’s licences and vehicle number plates, aimed at enhancing efficiency and improving service delivery nationwide.

Corps Marshal Malam Shehu Mohammed made the announcement in Abuja on Tuesday during the FRSC’s 2025 Customer Service Week celebration, an event dedicated to appreciating customers and stakeholders across the country.

According to Mohammed, the new system will significantly cut down processing times, reduce delays, and enhance data integrity, aligning with the Corps’ broader goal of leveraging technology to modernise its operations.

“We recognise the trust and loyalty of our customers, who are key partners in our road safety efforts,” he said. “Every milestone we’ve achieved has been made possible through this partnership.”

The Corps Marshal acknowledged recent difficulties encountered by Nigerians in obtaining driver’s licences and number plates, citing system inefficiencies and delays. He apologised for the inconvenience and assured the public that changes are underway.

“We are fully aware of the challenges and delays experienced by applicants across the country. We sincerely apologise and assure our customers that we are upgrading our systems to ensure a faster, more reliable service,” Mohammed said. “By God’s grace, the enhanced system will be launched within this month.”

He reaffirmed FRSC’s commitment to advocating for effective traffic legislation and consistent enforcement to reduce road crashes, fatalities, and injuries across the country.

Mohammed also urged motorists and road users to continue adhering to traffic regulations, emphasizing that road safety begins with individual responsibility.

“Safety first, safety always, and safety forever – that’s our message to all road users,” he added.

The annual Customer Service Week celebration highlights the importance of customer satisfaction and acknowledges the vital role played by both service providers and consumers across various sectors.
