Abuja, The Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has called on the newly commissioned 10,000 constables to uphold the core values of honour, diligence, and patriotism as they officially join the Nigeria Police Force.
The IGP made the appeal on Wednesday in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin. The event marked a significant milestone in the police force’s ongoing efforts to strengthen manpower and enhance operational effectiveness nationwide.
Speaking on the occasion, Egbetokun praised the recruits for their dedication and perseverance throughout their rigorous training across various police colleges and training institutions. He emphasized that their professionalism and conduct would be critical in building public trust in the police.
“This passing out exercise is a crucial component of the force’s strategic manpower development plan under the current administration. It aims to improve security presence, boost response capabilities, and reinforce public safety across the country,” the IGP said.
During their training, the new officers were equipped with modern policing techniques, including intelligence-led policing, community engagement, respect for human rights, and ethical standards, preparing them to meet the challenges of contemporary law enforcement.
This latest batch follows the earlier graduation of another 10,000 constables in January 2025, bringing the total number of new officers deployed this year to 20,000. Egbetokun expressed confidence that these new recruits would significantly contribute to enhancing national security and strengthening the relationship between the police and the communities they serve.
