Former Minister of Interior and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has predicted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will lose the 2027 general elections, citing what he described as growing public discontent and the ruling party’s desperation.
Speaking in Ilorin during the commissioning of the ADC’s new state secretariat, the former Osun State governor said his analysis shows that Nigerians are increasingly disenchanted with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ready to embrace an alternative.
> “If the APC is truly confident of its strength, it wouldn’t be harassing opposition members across the country,” Aregbesola said. “From Lagos to Kebbi to Kaduna, they are intimidating our members. A popular party doesn’t behave that way.”
He added that the ruling party’s “fear-driven actions” are proof that it has lost touch with the people.
> “They know they are not well-liked, and that is why they are panicking. The ADC will benefit from their unpopularity, and by the grace of God, we will take over the leadership of Nigeria and many states,” he said.
Aregbesola further dismissed recent defections of some governors to the APC, describing them as “enemies of the people whose presence adds no value to the ruling party.”
The former minister emphasized that the ADC is positioning itself as a credible alternative for Nigerians seeking change and accountable governance ahead of the 2027 elections.
