Smoothwave Entertainment Ltd. has unveiled Taxizi, a new mobile and web application aimed at simplifying tax calculation and boosting compliance for Nigerians across various sectors. The app is now accessible on iOS, Android, the Play Store, and online, enabling users to compute PAYE, VAT, corporate income tax, and withholding tax using official data from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
Targeting individuals and professionals such as freelancers, content creators, musicians, lawyers, small business owners, and formal-sector employees, Taxizi was designed to demystify Nigeria’s complex tax system. At the launch, Smoothwave’s Chief Operating Officer and Creative Director, Kevin Ichekor, emphasized that the app addresses widespread confusion surrounding tax obligations. “Our goal with Taxizi is to bring transparency, simplicity, and accessibility to the tax process,” he said.
Developed by Smoothwave’s in-house technical team led by Michael Olaleye, Taxizi converts Nigeria’s intricate tax rules into an intuitive interface. Users can input income, allowances, and deductions to receive an instant breakdown. The app also features Tax Identification Number verification, with plans for in-app tax payments and additional government integrations in future updates.
Olaleye noted that the platform is part of a wider effort to enhance tax literacy in the country. Industry experts have described Taxizi as a timely, homegrown tool that complements the Federal Government’s digital tax reforms. According to Ichekor, upcoming updates will include secure payment options, corporate reporting tools, and TIN/TID generation, positioning Taxizi as a key companion for Nigerians navigating the tax system.
