A Nigerian Air Force serviceman has been arrested after being found in possession of illegal firearms, and he reportedly claimed the weapons originated from the Edo State Government House.
The arrest occurred on Tuesday night, November 25, 2025, near Kabba Junction in Lokoja, Kogi State. Joint security operatives intercepted the Air Force member, identified as Aircraftman Anas Muhammad Fakai.
During the operation, officers recovered two pump-action rifles and a Browning pistol from him.
Fakai allegedly told investigators that he was instructed to deliver the weapons to a police orderly attached to a Commissioner of Police at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. He further claimed that the guns were handed over to him by an officer known as Inspector Paul, whom he said works at the Edo Government House in Benin.
Checks revealed that Fakai is attached to the 107 Air Maritime Group in Benin and had previously attended Nigeria Police Secondary School in Gusau, Zamfara State.
Security agencies have taken him and the seized weapons into custody as investigations continue and authorities await further directives.
