US President Donald Trump has announced that South Africa will not receive an invitation to next year’s G20 Summit, scheduled to take place in Miami.

In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump claimed the United States stayed away from the 2025 G20 Summit in Johannesburg because, according to him, the South African government has failed to acknowledge or address alleged human rights violations affecting Afrikaners.

He further criticised The New York Times and what he referred to as “Fake News Media” for allegedly ignoring the situation.

Trump also stated that South Africa refused to hand over the G20 presidency to a senior US Embassy representative during the summit’s closing session at Nasrec on Sunday. As a result, he said he would not extend an invitation to South Africa for the 2026 gathering.

Additionally, Trump announced that all US payments and subsidies to South Africa would be halted with immediate effect.
