The Public Protector, Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka, will investigate President Cyril Ramaphosa following allegations of breaches of the Executive Code of Conduct.
The complaint, lodged by the official opposition uMkhonto weSizwe Party, cites possible abuses of power, improper conduct, actions inconsistent with executive duties, and failure to act in the nation’s best interests.
MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela welcomed the investigation, describing it as a crucial step toward holding the President accountable. He cited issues ranging from the Phala Phala scandal to alleged misuse of state resources, stating that no individual, including the President, should be above the law.
The party said the probe is essential to restoring credibility to the nation’s highest office and safeguarding constitutional democracy.
