The Senate on Tuesday approved the appointment of Ayodele Oke, Colonel Kayode Are (rtd.), and Amin Dalhatu as Nigerian ambassadors.
Their confirmation followed the adoption of a report by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, presented during plenary by the committee’s chairman, Senator Abubakar Sani Bello.
Lawmakers unanimously endorsed the nominees after Senate President Godswill Akpabio subjected their appointments to a voice vote.
Oke is a former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and previously served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Commonwealth Secretariat in London. Are is a former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), while Dalhatu most recently served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea.
In his remarks, Akpabio urged the ambassadors-designate to leverage their extensive experience and expertise in advancing Nigeria’s diplomatic and foreign policy interests.
