Eze Phillip Ajomiwe, the traditional ruler of Oriendu Autonomous Community in the Ohuhu clan of Umuahia North, has called on the Abia State Government to urgently rehabilitate the community’s primary school and equip its health centre.

During the annual Iri Egwu/Igba Ekpe festival held at his palace in Ubaha, the monarch expressed concern over the deteriorating state of the Oriendu Community Primary School, which was established in the 1940s. He noted that broken classrooms and lack of essential facilities are undermining education in the area.

Eze Ajomiwe also lamented that a planned junior secondary school was never constructed, forcing students to leave the community for further education. He praised the current governor’s reform agenda and urged that it be extended to include the renovation of the primary school and the completion of the secondary school project to curb student dropouts and strengthen human capital in the community.

In addition, the monarch appealed for upgrades to the local market, improved sanitation, and better-equipped health facilities to meet the needs of women, children, and the elderly.

He further called for increased security in border areas to protect residents, farmers, and traders, while emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural events like the Ekpe festival, which foster unity and attract economic opportunities to the community.
