The Commissioner of Police (CP) for Abia State, CP Danladi Isa, today convened a strategic conference with officers of the Command at the Officers’ Mess in Umuahia.
The meeting brought together Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Tactical Team Commanders, Heads of Departments (HODs), as well as representatives of Inspectors and the rank-and-file officers.
The conference featured a series of training sessions, including lectures and practical exercises. Highlights included:
Orderly Room Trial by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration), DCP Samuel Onoja, with practical facilitation by CSP Lawrence Olorunshola.
Transfer of Cases, Preservation of Crime Scenes, and Investigations by Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Hayatu Shaffa.
Nigeria Police Force Social Media Policy by Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka.
In his address, CP Isa welcomed officers to the new year and commended them for ensuring security during the Christmas and New Year festivities. He urged officers to maintain proactive policing across the state, emphasizing that police presence must be visible and operational momentum sustained.
The CP stressed strict adherence to the laws and regulations of the Nigeria Police Force, including compliance with the NPF Social Media Policy, citing a recent disciplinary case in Delta State as a warning. He also cautioned officers against involvement in political or party activities, reminding them of the Police’s neutral role, particularly during ongoing party membership registrations ahead of upcoming elections.
Furthermore, CP Isa warned against over-detention of suspects, except in capital cases, and reiterated zero tolerance for extortion, drunkenness, illegal roadblocks, and unauthorized duties. Supervising officers were directed to ensure proper oversight of their teams to prevent vicarious liability.
Addressing Inspectors and rank-and-file officers, the CP encouraged professionalism, civility, and discipline in all interactions with the public, underscoring the importance of maintaining the Nigeria Police Force’s positive image while executing constitutional duties.
