Troops Kill Boko Haram Commander, 10 Fighters in Sambisa Night Raid

Troops of the Northeast Joint Task Force under Operation Hadin Kai, working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force, have recorded another major success in the fight against terrorism with the killing of a Boko Haram commander, Abu Khalid, and 10 other insurgents in Sambisa Forest, Borno State.

The terrorists were neutralised during a Saturday night operation in the Timbuktu Triangle, a notorious enclave within the forest.

The development was confirmed on Sunday in Maiduguri by the Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Lt-Col. Sani Uba, who described Khalid as a key figure in the Boko Haram hierarchy.

According to him, troops engaged the insurgents at about 11:00 p.m. in the Komala area of Konduga Local Government Area, barely 24 hours after the elimination of an ISWAP commander in a separate operation.

Uba explained that Abu Khalid was responsible for coordinating terrorist operations and logistics within Sambisa Forest.

Following the successful raid, troops recovered five AK-47 rifles, magazines, bicycles, food supplies, medical items, and other logistics materials.

He added that no casualties were recorded among the troops, noting that morale remains high as clearance operations continue across Sambisa Forest, the Mandara Mountains, and other terrorist hideouts in the Northeast.

The Military High Command commended the troops for their dedication and urged them to sustain the momentum in degrading the remaining insurgent elements in the region.
