Otti Seeks Party Unity, Regrets Obi’s Exit, Calls on Abure Faction to Reconcile

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has expressed disappointment over the exit of former presidential candidate Peter Obi from the Labour Party, describing the development as a major loss during a period of internal tension within the organisation.

Addressing party stakeholders at a recent gathering, Otti said Obi’s departure created a vacuum and weakened the party’s momentum, noting that his influence and support base had been central to the party’s recent growth.

The governor also extended an olive branch to the faction loyal to former national chairman Julius Abure, calling for reconciliation and a return to unified leadership. He stressed that ongoing disputes have slowed party progress and distracted from long-term political goals.

Otti said efforts are underway to restore order through dialogue and internal reforms, adding that the party plans to strengthen its structure from the grassroots level while resolving leadership disagreements.

He maintained that unity and discipline among members will be critical if the party hopes to remain competitive in future elections.
