Bill and Hillary Clinton Agree to Testify in Congressional Epstein Investigation

Former US President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have agreed to testify before Congress in the ongoing investigation into the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, a staffer for the couple confirmed.

The decision comes as Republican leaders in the House of Representatives had been considering a vote to hold the Clintons in contempt of Congress—a move that could have led to potential criminal charges.

The investigation intensified following the Justice Department’s release of millions of internal documents revealing Epstein’s connections to prominent figures across politics, finance, academia, and business, both before and after his 2008 conviction for prostitution-related charges.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican, described the Clintons’ decision as “a good development” but did not clarify whether the planned contempt vote would be dropped.

Last week, the House Oversight Committee recommended that both Clintons be held in contempt for initially refusing to testify in person. The couple had offered to cooperate but had called the investigation partisan, alleging it aimed to shield former Republican President Donald Trump.

Angel Ureña, the Clintons’ deputy chief of staff, said on social media, “They told you under oath what they know, but you don’t care. But the former president and former secretary of state will be there. They look forward to setting a precedent that applies to everyone.”

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said the Clintons’ legal team had agreed to terms but had yet to provide specific dates for their depositions. “I will clarify the terms they are agreeing to and then discuss next steps with my committee members,” Comer stated.

Bill Clinton’s ties to Epstein include multiple flights on the late financier’s private plane in the early 2000s. The former president has expressed regret about the relationship, insisting he was unaware of Epstein’s criminal activities.
