The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has pledged to ease tax pressures and avoid harsh fiscal policies for residents of the Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory if its candidates win in the upcoming local elections.
During a visit to the palace of the Sarkin of Bwari, party leaders led by Prof. Abubakar Gombe, the SDP National Chairman, assured community members that the party’s agenda prioritises sensible taxation and responsive governance over excessive levies and punitive measures.
Speaking to traditional leaders and stakeholders, Gombe highlighted how crucial area council administrations are for addressing everyday issues and urged voters to choose candidates with strong records and integrity. He emphasised that grassroots leadership should be accessible, accountable, and attuned to the needs of locals.
Echoing this message, SDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to people‑centered policies and encouraged residents to protect their votes and demand quality leadership that reflects their aspirations.
SDP’s chairmanship hopeful for Bwari, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi, also reiterated his dedication to inclusive governance and community development, promising to represent all segments of society fairly.
The Sarkin of Bwari urged peaceful conduct and unity as the election approaches, reminding residents of the importance of calm and mutual respect during the democratic process.
The Area Council polls across the FCT are scheduled to take place this weekend, with a strong focus on credible, transparent voting and high turnout.
