The Federal Government has discontinued legal proceedings against prominent lawyer Mike Ozekhome over allegations of forgery.

The decision followed a directive from the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation after a review of the case file. Government prosecutors formally applied to withdraw the charges during proceedings at a Federal Capital Territory High Court.

The case had earlier been initiated by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission over a disputed overseas property linked to a past court ruling. However, after reassessing the matter, authorities opted to discontinue prosecution for further consideration.

During the hearing, the prosecution informed the court of its intention to step down the charges, a move that faced no opposition from the defence team. The presiding judge subsequently approved the request, effectively bringing the case to an end.
