Seven Traders Dead: Lagos Police Fire Four Officers in Owode‑Onirin Tragedy

Four police officers have been relieved of their duties following a tragic incident that left seven traders dead in Lagos’ Owode‑Onirin area. The move comes after an internal investigation implicated the officers in the deadly confrontation.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that the dismissed officers were allegedly involved in actions that escalated tensions between local traders and other parties, resulting in fatalities. Authorities emphasized that the case was taken very seriously.

Police officials explained that the officers were connected to a main suspect who allegedly brought them to the scene, intensifying the conflict. Investigations into the incident are reportedly in the final stages.

While the officers have been dismissed, the police assured the public that further accountability measures, including prosecution of anyone responsible, are underway.

Residents in Owode‑Onirin were urged to stay vigilant as security agencies work to restore calm and prevent similar tragedies in the community.
