The Federal Government has announced Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the Ramadan fast.
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the government, congratulating Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the holy month.
In a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the minister urged Muslims to continue upholding the values of love, peace, generosity, tolerance, and sacrifice learned during Ramadan.
He also encouraged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the nation’s peace, unity, and progress.
While wishing Muslims a joyful celebration, Tunji-Ojo advised citizens to celebrate responsibly and remember the less privileged through acts of kindness.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting unity and peaceful coexistence across the country.
