A tragic fire in Dutse, Jigawa State has killed two young children of a university lecturer, leaving the community in shock. The incident occurred in the early hours at Layin Dabinai, near a local mosque, while the children were at home.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, but the flames had already spread, making rescue efforts extremely difficult. The two children were pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to the grieving family. They also reminded residents about the importance of maintaining strict fire safety practices at home.

Later that same day, another fire broke out in the Gida Dubu area. Swift action by fire services prevented loss of life, though some structures sustained damage. Authorities have launched investigations into both incidents and urged residents to exercise greater caution with electrical equipment and open flames.
