Abuja Residents Decry Near-Total Blackout, Say Power Lasts Only Seconds Daily

Several communities in Abuja have voiced frustration over worsening electricity supply, claiming they receive power for only a few seconds within an entire day.

Residents described the situation as unbearable, noting that the erratic supply has disrupted daily living and made it difficult to carry out basic household and business activities. Many said the brief flashes of electricity are too short to power appliances or provide any meaningful relief.

According to affected individuals, the persistent outages have forced them to rely heavily on alternative energy sources such as generators, increasing their cost of living amid already harsh economic conditions.

The communities also lamented that despite being billed regularly, the service they receive falls far below expectations. They called on the relevant electricity authorities to urgently address the situation and improve power distribution.

The complaints highlight broader challenges within Nigeria’s electricity sector, where inconsistent supply continues to affect millions of consumers across the country.
