A non-governmental organisation has expressed concern over Nigeria’s placement among the countries most impacted by terrorism, warning that the ranking underscores persistent security challenges across the nation.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the group said the country’s position reflects ongoing struggles to contain violent attacks in several regions. It noted that communities continue to face threats from armed groups, leading to displacement, loss of lives, and growing uncertainty.
The organisation stressed that beyond military operations, there is a need for broader strategies that address socio-economic conditions contributing to insecurity. It also highlighted the importance of investing in intelligence, community policing, and early warning systems.
While acknowledging government efforts to tackle the crisis, the group maintained that more consistent and far-reaching actions are required to improve safety and reduce the frequency of attacks.
It further called on stakeholders at all levels to work collaboratively in restoring stability and rebuilding public trust in the country’s security institutions.
