Nigerian authorities have issued a fresh safety advisory to citizens residing in South Africa, urging them to limit public engagements as tensions rise in certain communities. The warning follows recent disturbances that have created unease among foreign nationals, including Nigerians.

The Nigerian diplomatic mission called on its citizens to exercise caution in their daily movements and avoid crowded events or gatherings that could expose them to risk. It also encouraged individuals to remain alert and keep a low profile while the situation evolves.

Officials noted that the unrest, which is tied to local disputes, has led to sporadic protests and incidents of violence in some areas. Although not directly targeted, foreigners have been advised to take precautionary steps to avoid being caught up in any confrontations.

Nigerians were further reminded to respect local laws and customs, refrain from engaging in sensitive discussions, and avoid circulating unverified information that could inflame tensions. Community leaders were also encouraged to help spread awareness and promote calm among residents.

The mission assured that it is closely monitoring developments and remains in contact with South African authorities. Citizens were urged to report emergencies promptly and stay connected with official channels for updates until normalcy is fully restored.
