The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, on Thursday, April 2, 2026, led a team of top security officials to assess the security situation in Jos, Plateau State, as part of ongoing efforts to restore stability.
He was received on arrival by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, underscoring continued cooperation between the military and the state government in tackling security challenges.
During the visit, Shaibu was briefed by the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Maj. Gen. Folusho Oyinlola. The briefing focused on current operations and joint efforts with other security agencies aimed at curbing threats, safeguarding residents, and stabilising affected communities.
The army chief also met with community leaders and residents, assuring them of the military’s dedication to protecting lives and property. He urged citizens to comply with the curfew and support security agencies in their operations.
Local officials, including Jos North Chairman Dachung Bagos and councillor Ladi Dangyok, praised the visit, saying it would boost public confidence in ongoing security efforts.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to resolve the crisis and achieve lasting peace in Plateau State.
