The Edo State Government has launched a fresh push to increase the number of indigenes serving in the Nigerian Army, urging young residents to take advantage of the current recruitment window.
Governor Monday Okpebholo said the initiative is part of a broader effort to position Edo youths for stable careers while strengthening the state’s presence in national institutions.
According to him, many young people often overlook opportunities in the armed forces due to lack of awareness or guidance. He stressed that joining the military offers structured training, long-term career prospects, and a chance to contribute meaningfully to national stability.
To address this gap, the state is partnering with military officials to organise awareness campaigns and provide guidance for interested applicants, particularly in rural communities.
The governor also emphasized the role of families and local leaders in encouraging responsible career choices, noting that collective support can help more qualified candidates step forward.
He reaffirmed his administration’s focus on youth development, adding that initiatives like this are aimed at reducing unemployment while promoting discipline and patriotism among young people.
