Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has restated his belief that Northern Nigeria holds the strongest potential to drive the country’s economic growth if properly developed.

He said the region remains one of Nigeria’s most valuable yet underutilised assets, stressing that its vast land and human resources could significantly transform the national economy if properly harnessed.

Obi explained that his vision for the North focuses on boosting agriculture, improving education, and strengthening healthcare systems as a foundation for long-term development and poverty reduction.

He also linked economic progress in the region to improved security, noting that sustainable investment and inclusive development would help address some of the root causes of instability.

The former governor added that national growth cannot be achieved without paying serious attention to regional development, insisting that Nigeria’s future prosperity depends on unlocking opportunities across all parts of the country, especially the North.
