Nigeria and South Africa have strengthened their partnership in the energy sector as both countries move to deepen cooperation aimed at improving electricity generation, investment flows, and broader energy development across Africa.

Officials from both nations reaffirmed their commitment during recent engagements focused on building a more integrated and sustainable energy system. The discussions centred on boosting joint investment in power infrastructure, improving technical cooperation, and aligning policies that can support long-term energy security on the continent.

Both sides also highlighted the importance of working together to address Africa’s energy challenges, including limited electricity access and the need for cleaner and more reliable energy sources. The partnership is expected to encourage knowledge sharing, attract private sector participation, and support ongoing efforts to modernise the energy sector in both countries.

The renewed cooperation forms part of wider bilateral relations between Nigeria and South Africa, which have continued to expand across trade, mining, and infrastructure in recent years.
