The Labour Party in Abia State has ushered in a new leadership team, with Peter Azubuike emerging as the party’s chairman following a state congress held in Umuahia.
Azubuike’s emergence came through a consensus arrangement endorsed by party delegates, reflecting a unified front among stakeholders ahead of future political activities in the state. Alongside him, other members of the State Working Committee were also selected to steer the party’s affairs.
During the event, Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the congress, describing it as a sign of growing cohesion within the party. He assured the newly elected executives of his administration’s backing as they begin their tenure.
In his acceptance remarks, Azubuike pledged to strengthen internal unity and expand the party’s influence across Abia. He emphasized the need for collaboration among members and expressed confidence in positioning the party for electoral success in the coming years.
Party leaders also acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing leadership, urging continued support as the new executives settle into their roles.
