Activist Slams Soaring Fuel Prices, Questions Leadership Stance

Social commentator Serah Ibrahim has criticised the sharp rise in petrol prices, drawing attention to what she described as a contradiction in leadership. She recalled how the current president once voiced strong opposition when fuel sold for ₦141, contrasting it with the present situation where prices have surged to about ₦1,450 per litre.

Ibrahim argued that the dramatic increase raises concerns about consistency in governance, suggesting that the same level of outrage previously expressed should now be directed at the current administration’s policies. Her remarks reflect growing public frustration over the escalating cost of fuel and its impact on everyday life.

Her comments have since sparked conversations across social media, with many Nigerians echoing similar concerns about the rising cost of living. Several users pointed out that the increase in fuel prices has triggered a ripple effect, pushing up transportation fares, food prices, and other essential expenses.

Others, however, urged a broader view of the situation, noting that global market forces and policy shifts may have contributed to the current pricing realities. Despite differing opinions, the debate underscores mounting pressure on the government to address economic challenges and provide relief for citizens grappling with inflation.
