The Lagos State Government has rejected widespread reports suggesting that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is planning to resign due to health concerns, describing the claims as false and misleading.
Officials from the governor’s office stated that the rumours circulating online are baseless and should be ignored by the public. According to the government, there has been no pressure on the governor to vacate office, nor has he expressed any intention to step aside.
A statement issued by the governor’s media team emphasized that Sanwo-Olu remains in good condition and continues to carry out his duties without any hindrance. The administration also criticized the spread of what it called deliberate misinformation aimed at creating unnecessary tension.
The clarification followed reports alleging that the governor was being forced to resign on medical grounds, with speculation about a possible leadership change in the state. However, authorities insist there is no truth to such claims.
Reaffirming its position, the state government urged residents to rely on verified information and disregard unconfirmed reports, stressing that governance in Lagos remains stable and uninterrupted.
