Judge Demands CCTV Evidence from Bank, EFCC in Former Employee’s ₦1 Million Case

A Federal High Court has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and a commercial bank to present closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage in an ongoing trial involving a former employee accused of financial misconduct.

The case centres on allegations that the ex-staff member was involved in the alleged diversion of about ₦1 million, a claim he has consistently denied in court.

During proceedings, the judge ruled that the video recordings from the bank’s surveillance system are crucial to determining what actually happened at the time of the incident. The court further ordered that the EFCC and the bank ensure the footage is made available as part of the evidence for trial.

The directive is aimed at ensuring a fair hearing, as both the prosecution and defence continue to present documents and witness statements in the matter.

The case has been adjourned for further hearing as the court awaits compliance with its order.
