A 20-year-old student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO), Ondo State, has been found dead in his apartment in what police describe as a suspected suicide.

The deceased, identified as Audi Emmanuel, was a Computer Engineering student. His body was discovered in his residence along Awolowo Road, Emure-Ile, in Owo Local Government Area, after neighbours noticed a strong, unpleasant odour coming from the room.

According to residents, repeated attempts to reach him were unsuccessful, prompting them to force the door open, leading to the discovery of his lifeless body. The incident has left the surrounding community in shock.

A neighbour said they were alarmed by the smell and concerned about his absence, which led to the decision to break into the apartment. The police were immediately contacted, and the body was subsequently evacuated. No note was found at the scene.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Abayomi Jimoh, said officers responded promptly and moved the body to a mortuary for preservation.

He added that while initial observations suggest suicide, a full investigation, including an autopsy, is underway to determine the exact cause of death.

The police extended condolences to the family of the deceased and encouraged members of the public to seek help and speak to others during periods of emotional distress.
